Tamil Nadu’s economy may grow at a rate of 8.08% to 10.69% in 2024-25. Providing these real growth rate figures (as opposed to nominal rates that include the factor of inflation), a study on the State economy, conducted by C. Rangarajan and K.R. Shanmugam, chairperson and director of the Madras School Economics respectively, has estimated that in the recently concluded financial year of 2023-24, the State’s growth rate varied from 8.08% to 9.44%.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has hinted at a cabinet reshuffle on his return from the US trip to draw investments to the state. There was intense speculation that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader would elevate his son, Udhayanidhi Stalin, as his deputy and bring in a few new faces removing a few sitting ministers before his foreign trip.
Asked by reporters if there would be a change in the council of ministers, Mr Stalin said, “Only change is unchanging. Wait and see”.
Udhayanidhi Stalin, 46, is currently Tamil Nadu’s sports and youth welfare minister. He also handles the key portfolio of special programme implementation.

Tamil Nadu’s ruling DMK has dismissed actor-politician Vijay’s ideology for his Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam, saying he had copied them. Main opposition AIADMK called it a “cocktail” of current political standpoints of various parties.
“These are all our policies, he is copying… whatever he says is what we had already said and which we are following,” DMK leader TKS Elangovan was quoted as saying by news agency Press Trust of India.
